Do You Want More Love In Your Home?

As a creative I have always wondered, “Why do people collect art?”

Recently I have overcome my fears of creating art and putting out into the world. I purchased a few canvases and got out acrylic paints that I inherited from my grandmother’s art studio. I put the brush to the canvas and enjoyed the process. Due to lack of space for storing the art, I actually hung it on the walls of our home. I noticed that having art on the walls has created a more soothing and inviting environment.

This has heightened my curiosity about how people respond to art. I started doing some research and discovered that viewing art can produce the same emotion as falling in love!

Neuroscientist, Professor Zeki has discovered, through brain-mapping experiments, that art can provide us as much pleasure as being in love.

Zeki revealed, "There have been very significant new advances in our understanding of what happens in our brains when we look at works of art. We have recently found that when we look at things we consider to be beautiful, there is increased activity in the pleasure reward centres of the brain. Essentially, the feel-good centres are stimulated, similar to the states of love and desire."
